Old Town Sacramento Yesenia and Brice Engagement Photos

Yesenia and Brice met at work at the age of 18. In the beggining, they didn’t even speak. Yesenia and Brice had their own agenda and never even thought they would have anything in common to make them friends. Slowly, through work aquaintences, they began to get to know one another. Still, they were both in relationships and very much living their own lives. However, as time continued to pass, they became close. They attended college classes together and really enjoyed each other’s company. It was a true friendship that was developing, they began going out very often with mutual friends. After years of just being close friends, Yesenia and Brice both found one another in the same place in life. Many changes in their lives took place from loss of loved ones to life lessons that made them both mature. They had now become best friends, but this did affect their “single status”. They were both single, however they didn’t allow themselves time to date due to always being together. Brice decided to tell Yesenia his feelings had changed for her, he had fallen in love. Yesenia was so hesitant, she didn’t want to ruin this special bond between them if things didn’t work out. She felt it wasn’t right and they should just remain friends. However, she too began to fall in love and realized that life is too short and it was time to follow her heart. After shortly becoming a couple, Brice proposed to her in front of his entire family on Thanksgiving 2010. After a year of planning their wedding, Brice and Yesenia are very excited to begin the rest of their lives together as husband and wife. Having a best friend for life to cherish and love is a truly uncomparable experience. February 18, 2012 Brice and Yesenia will become Mr. and Mrs. Jones.

Sacramento Wedding Photography

Last month I had the privilege of attending one of Gene Higa’s wedding workshop held at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Downtown Sacramento. Gene is one of the best wedding photographers in the world and a destination wedding photographer based in San Diego, California. Gene shared his knowledge on weddings. He taught us how to find the natural light no matter what time of day it is. He also showed us how to design elegant wedding albums. After lunch we did some on location shots around Old Town Sacramento with bride and groom models. Gene says it is important not to forget to take a good portrait of the groom since some wedding photographers focus on the bride. This workshop was sponsored by PCL West Imaging, Professional Photographers of Sacramento Valley and with the help of Click Monkey’s Photography meetup group. A great thank you to Jenifer Haupt for the Hair and Makeup of the models.

Old Town Sacramento Engagement Photography

I had so much fun taking Gina and Nehemiah’s engagement session at Old Town Sacramento. They were naturals in front of the camera!

How they met:

We met on a cold winter night under the stars in Old Historic Sacramento…(Untrue)

Real (less romantic and actual story)

We met at the Dept of Social Services amid endless paperwork, belligerent claimant phone calls and insurmountable work loads. We managed to find true happiness and a best friend in each other in the midst of all the office nonsense on April 27th, 2010.

It was noon, Nehemiah was eating lunch in the break room (in the middle of biting an apple) when a co-worker asked if we could sit at his table for lunch. He excitedly nodded (with his mouth full of apple)…and the rest is history!

They got engaged Saturday July 02, 2011 at Asilomar State Beach California with wild roses, a sweet simple speech, bended knee, an antique engagement ring and a resounding Yes! Their wedding ceremony will be at Holman Ranch Carmel Valley, California.

Thank you to Gary and Kayla for opening up their private ranch in Williams, an hour drive from Sacramento California for a fabulous photo shoot with Amanda organized by Mark Behrens. The ranch was a playground for me. A good location for fashion and high school senior portrait photography. There were a lot of areas that were great for pictures. They had rice fields, an old barn, and it was close to Williams airport where I got an awesome shot of a vintage looking airplane. This was Amanda’s first modeling photo shoot which I never would have thought. She has a natural beauty and a natural way of posing herself. It was a pleasure taking Amanda’s photos and hope you enjoy these pictures!

Brooks Engagement Photography – Natalie and Lincoln

The first time I met Natalie was when she was one of the bridesmaids of one of the weddings I photographed a few years ago. Now this time she will be the bride. Natalie and Lincoln have been together for more than 4 years. They have met through Lincoln’s best friend, also the best man on their wedding. Lincoln proposed to Natalie a day before Valentine’s Day in San Francisco on a sunset along the beach. Natalie was attracted to Lincoln because he is funny, kind, caring, and easy going.

We had our engagement session at Capay Valley in Brooks California, not so far from Woodland. Lincoln found this spot with the Almond trees one day while riding his bike. He loves his Harley Davidson so we incorporated it during the photo shoot. As we arrived at the location we saw two deer. Hoping to take them in the background, we tried slowly going close to them, but they scurried away. Here are some of my favorite photos of Natalie and Lincoln’s engagement. I had so much fun photographing them. They were all smiles, laughing, and enjoying the session. I can’t wait for their wedding soon at The Morgan Creek Country Club in Roseville California.
